RDO mobile app?
  • I wonder if there are any recommended mobile apps (either Andriod or iOS) that can help monitor and/or manage my RDO cloud on the go. The web interface seems not to be optimised for mobile devices.

I'm not aware of an app to control your OpenStack setup.

For nagios, there is at least one mobile app.

We are N3Infinity (n3infinity.com), a startup developing mobile apps in Stockholm. We are working on a native Android app for managing an Openstack cloud and looking for alpha/beta testers. The app currently offers features listed below. If you would like to try such an app, have a running Openstack installation, and an Android phone (v.4.0+) at your disposal, please join the Google group via this link (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/stackmobile). We distribute the binary through Google Play; you will find the download link from my post in the group. We will release the app by the end of this year. We are welcome any feedbacks, comments, and suggestions.

We are pleased to inform you that we release “Stack mobile”, an Android app for managing an Openstack cloud on the go, to the Google Play store today (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.n3infinity.stack_mobile). The app enables you manage your Openstack cloud infrastructure from anywhere at anytime. It is compatible with Openstack-based clouds for stable versions of Grizzly+ (Grizzly and Havana). Note that the app requires a direct network access between your phone and API endpoints of your clouds (Keystone, Nova, Cinder, Glance, Neutron API endpoints). The app currently offers the features listed below. Any feedback, comments, and suggestions are welcome.

    1. Managing multiple accounts -- Have multiple Openstack accounts? No worry about it, simply put them in the app, and you can manage either of them from the app.

    2. Instance management -- Launch your instance, rename an instance, view information about your instance, suspend & resume instances, see console logs, create snapshots, launch from snapshots, view flavors.

    3. Volume management -- Create new volume, attach volume to an instance, create a volume snapshot

    4. Security group management -- View security groups, view and add security rules

    5. Usage report -- View usage within specified date ranges.

    6. Limit summary -- Display your current usage compared to your project’s quota.

    7. Network/subnet management -- Create a new network, view networks, create a subnet within a network, view subnets within a network

    8. Floating IP management -- View floating IPs, associate / dissociate floating IP to/from an instance

    9. Multiple projects -- Have an account that has more than one projects? No worry about it, you can switch the project to manage on the fly within the app.
